A new tradition is being sparked in downtown Harbor Springs on Saturday, June 22, with a Community Bonfire at the City Beach in Zorn Park.
The bonfire is being hosted by the Main Street Promotions committee of the DDA/Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce. The event is free and open to everyone, and folks are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics. Harbor Springs Michigan Youth in Government students will also be selling hotdogs at the event.
"John Cupps of Cupps Masonry is supplying the bonfire, and both he and Dick Schiller (the fire chief) will be making sure a fire truck is on-hand for folks to check out," said Cyndi Kramer, a member of the Main Street Promotions committee. "Allied EMS will also have an ambulance on-hand to talk to folks about their service, and let them see inside their truck."
Kramer said the event will take place rain or shine.
"We would like to thank the City of Harbor Springs for working with us to make this happen," Kramer said. "It's an exciting local event to kick-off the summer season."
