After many years of restoration, most recently by Harbor Springs resident Andy Bowman, this 1928 Buhl Airsedan CA-3C took flight again in the fall of 2011. Join Bowman at the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society this Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 pm as he shares more about this plane’s 86-year journey. (Photo provided by Andy Bowman)
The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society will host its first Harbor History Talk of 2014, "Rebuilding the Buhl" on Thursday, February 20 at 5:30 pm. Join Harbor Springs resident Andy Bowman as he talks about his work rebuilding a 1928 Buhl Airsedan CA-3C. The Airsedan was one of several planes manufactured by the Buhl Aircraft Company of Detroit between 1925 and 1931.
Bowman is an experienced plane builder and restorer so working on this piece of history was right up his alley. Bowman was first contacted about the restoration project in 2009 by Larry and Fay Buhl of Harbor Springs. Larry's father Lawrence co-founded the Buhl Aircraft Company. The Buhls had located the parts of a 1928 Airsedan and hoped that Bowman could restore the plane for static display purposes.
Join the Historical Society for the talk on February 20 and learn about the restoration process of this 1928 Buhl Airsedan and follow the plane's 86-year journey. The talk begins at 5:30 pm in the second-floor Anton Library at the Harbor Springs History Museum, 349 E. Main Street. Admission is $5 per person and free to current Historical Society members. Cookies and coffee will be served.
Reservations are greatly appreciated by calling the Historical Society at (231) 526-9771.
