Boom! It's the Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is celebrated in true small town style throughout the Little Traverse Bay region. Here's a list of favorite events happening throughout the holiday weekend:

Bay Harbor

Fireworks- The Petoskey Steel Drum Band will be performing at the Village of Bay Harbor on July 3, beginning at 7 p.m. A fireworks display will take place over Bay Harbor Lake at dusk.

Harbor Springs

Friday July 4- Fourth of July events go almost go from sun up to sun down in this community, kicking off with the annual Paul Revere Run. The three and 10 mile race is a favorite for many area runners and families, and also serves as a fundraiser for the Harbor Springs Cross Country Team. Registration for the race is from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at the Harbor Springs The race begins at 8 a.m. for the 10-milers and 8:15 a.m. for the three-mile runners.

American Legion Breakfast from 8 a.m.-11 p.m.

Art in the Park benefits the Harbor Springs Community Schools, and is a huge draw each year. The art show takes place in Zorn Park from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Community Cookout is an annual tradition at the United Methodist Church from 11 a.m.-3:30 pm.

Harbor Springs Fourth of July Parade will begin at 1 p.m. The parade marches down Main Street, turns the corner onto State and finishes at the end of Bay Street.

Parade flyover of American Flag will happen at approximately 1:30 p.m. via Skydive Harbor Springs.

Free Sailing- Little Traverse Sailors will be offering free sailing after the parade until 4 p.m. on the waterfront.

Beer Garden and Live Music will take place from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on the green space along the waterfront. Must be 21 to enter.

Citizen of the Year Celebration, honoring John Demmer, is being hosted by the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce and will feature the Young Americans and Doo Woops. Admission is free. The event takes place at 3 p.m.

Fireworks will take place at dusk (around 10 p.m.)

Petoskey

July 4- Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with downtown family fun and street performers followed by the Downtown parade at 6 p.m. Live music will take place on the waterfront following the parade, with an ice cream social at the Little Traverse History Museum and the fireworks display taking place at dusk.

Cross Village

July 5- Community parade at 1 p.m., with a celebration to follow at Three Pines Studio. American Spoon Foods Gelato will be served, along with cookies and performances by "hometown" duet, Kellerville. Shoestring, a Ringling Brothers trained clown, will also visit and entertain.
