7/30/2014 12:01:00 AM 'Rebuilding the Buhl' encore presentation set for Aug. 7
The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society is thrilled to announce a special encore presentation of Harbor Springs resident Andy Bowman's talk, "Rebuilding the Buhl" on Thursday, August 7 at 5:00 pm. The talk will be held at Holy Childhood Community Center so a greater number of guests can hear Bowman speak about his work rebuilding a 1928 Buhl Airsedan CA-3C. The Airsedan was one of several planes manufactured by the Buhl Aircraft Company of Detroit between 1925 and 1931.
Bowman is an experienced plane builder and restorer so working on this piece of history was right up his alley. Larry and Fay Buhl of Harbor Springs first contacted Bowman about the restoration project in 2009. Larry's father Lawrence co-founded the Buhl Aircraft Company. The Buhls had located the parts of a 1928 Airsedan and hoped that Bowman could restore the plane for static display purposes. Larry, who recently passed away, was able to see his dream of the plane being restored and preserved for future generations to enjoy. Join us to learn about the restoration process and about how the plane ultimately took flight after being disassembled for 62 years.
The talk begins at 5:00 pm and will be held at Holy Childhood Community Center at 150 W. Main Street, Harbor Springs. Admission is $5 per person and free to current Historical Society members. Reservations are greatly appreciated by calling the Historical Society at (231) 526-9771. Refreshments will be provided.
