Some 135 athletes swam, biked and ran in the Little Traverse Triathlon which included a 600-meter swim in Little Traverse Bay off Zoll St. beach, a nearly 20-mile bike out the shore north of town and back in to Harbor Springs where they finished with a four mile run.
Racers competed individually or in relay teams. Traverse City resident Craig Webb, 53, was the overall winner of the event, with a time of one hour and twenty-three minutes.
According to triathlon race director Tom Behan, Sr., the event was a success. Behan said the event went smoothly, with no accidents and lots of folks crossing the finish line before the temperatures spiked in the afternoon.
"Everything went very well," he said. "It was another great event, from the food tent, to all of our volunteers showing up and helping out. Everyone was at the right place at the right time and we didn't have any problems at all. The weather was stupendous, and everyone really had a lot of fun."
