School resumes in Harbor Springs on Wednesday, Sept. 4 for students in grades one through 12. It will be a full day of school. Kindergarten begins Monday, Sept. 9.
Students at Shay Elementary have a new roof over their heads. The roof was replaced over the summer, as well as a small section of the High School roof.
Blackbird Elementary also had interior renovations completed over the summer. New carpeting and sheet vinyl in the classrooms and hallway along with new tile and high grade sheet vinyl in the lunchroom were installed. New cabinetry, countertops and sinks were installed in the classrooms along with new paint and energy efficient lighting in the building.
The High School will host an open house on Sept. 11 at 5 pm.
Sports have already begun. The first home varsity football game will be Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:00 pm at Ottawa Stadium against Frankfort Elberta. The first home varsity volleyball match will be Sept. 3. The next home varsity tennis match is set for Sept. 4. Girls golf will be home against East Jordan on Sept. 23. Cross country had its first meet last weekend and the big Charlevoix Mud Run is slated for Sept. 7. Boys varsity soccer has it first home game Wednesday, Aug. 28 and will be home again on Sept. 3.
