Gerald Edward Gramzay 56 of Petoskey passed away October 8, 2013 at his home. He was born October 17, 1956 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mi to Eugene and Joene (Connelly) Gramzay. He grew up in East Detroit and attended Notre Dame High School. Following high school he attended Ferris State University and Lycee' Technique d'Hotellerie et de Tourisme de Strasbourg (France) where he received Certificat de Stage. He was the first American to be accepted into the culinary program at Lycee' in Strasbourg, France.
On October 20, 1984 he married Antoinette in Grosse Pointe, Mi. Gerald served in the position of Executive Chef in renowned restaurants in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City and Birmingham, Michigan. He has been a partner/corporate chef with Stafford's Hospitality for the past 13 years. Gerald was a member of the Charlevoix Rod and Gun Club, was a Republican delegate for district 1, and was a member of the Michigan and National Restaurant Associations. He enjoyed organic gardening, skiing and golf.
Gerald is survived by his wife Antoinette "Toni", his son Brandon, his mother Joene Gramzay, siblings Steven Gramzay, Janet Bires, Kathleen Gramzay, Robert Gramzay, Lori Vuljaj, and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Gramzay.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday Oct. 25 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey followed by a celebration of his life beginning at 12 noon at the Perry Hotel.
