Ashley Shepherd

Ashley Ann Marie Shepherd 21 of Harbor Springs passed away Dec. 14, 2013 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor.

She was born may 26, 1992 in Southfield to Frank and Patti (Geary) Shepherd. She grew up in Harbor Springs where she attended school. She also went to Pellston schools and Petoskey schools where she graduated in 2010. While in school Ashley participated in volleyball, concert band and the science Olympiad.

Following high school she made her home in Petoskey where she attended North Central Michigan College and also worked in the Noggin Room at the Perry Hotel and also at Boyne Highlands. Following her heart transplant she lived in Milford. She remained active and became active in heart transplant education and was an advocate for Gift of Life. During her life she enjoyed bicycling, motorcycles, exercising at Anytime Fitness, crafts, assisting with CPR training and hunter safety classes at the Harbor Springs Outdoors Club. Ashley was a member of Holy Childhood Church.

Ashley is survived by her mother Patti Shepherd of Harbor Springs, her father Frank Shepherd and step-mother Neva of Harbor Springs, her grandmother Anne Shepherd, step-brother Douglas Lance, step-sister Shaelynn Lance and God parents Mark and Vicki Goenner of Milford. She is also survived by her biological father David Lance of Lewiston and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ashley was preceded in death by her grandfather Edward Shepherd and grandparents Ronald Geary and Mary Ann Whitaker.

A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held on Thurs. Dec. 19th at 11:00 AM at Holy Childhood of Jesus Church. Fr. Joseph Graff will be the celebrant. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Holy Childhood Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association for research.
