Frank Arbaugh Shumway passed away March 7, 2014. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 14, 1928 to Guy Charles and Ruth (Arbaugh) Shumway.
After serving in the U.S. Navy he attended Michigan College of Mining and Technology in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. It was there he met his wife Catherine Blanche Cumming. They were married on Neebish Island on Sept. 9, 1950. Frank began a career with Michigan National Bank in Lansing in 1952, which included developing Michigan Bankard. He retired in 1977 as a senior vice-president.
He then moved to Harbor Springs where he worked as a commercial real estate broker and developer. Following the death of his wife Catherine he later married Sarah F. Rapp on June 22, 1996. They spent their winters in Palm Beach Shores, Fl. He had a lifelong passion for boating.
Frank is survived by his wife Sarah F. Shumway, his sons G. Charles Shumway II, James M. Shumway and his wife Janet and Frank A. Shumway Jr. Also surviving are his grandchildren Lauren Shumway Porter and her husband Sean, Elizabeth Ruth Shumway, Brendan Charles Shumway, 2 great grandchildren Alysa and Zachary Porter and his sister Louise Shumway.
