Margaret Scott Rountree Stockham "Peggy" wife of Herbert Cannon Stockham for 60 years passed away on May 6, 2014. Born June 16, 1928, the daughter of Dr. Walter Scott Rountree and Martha Lawrence Bradshaw Rountree graduated from Holton-Arms School in Washington, DC in 1946 and Birmingham-Southern College in 1950.
She enjoyed painting, needlepointing, and crosswords, but her greatest joy was her family. She was devoted to her girls, Herbert, and her grandchildren brought her great happiness. She welcomed her children's life partners and cherished them as her own. She spent 60 summers in Wequetonsing after she and Herbert were married in 1954.
She is survived by her four daughters, Kate Stockham of Birmingham, Anne Stockham (Teresa DeAnni) of Boulder, CO, Caroline Stockham Thomas (Edward Jr.) and Midge Stockham Miller (Dr. Mark) of Birmingham; her twin sister Anne Rountree Eyster of Decatur, AL; and her four grandchildren, Mara Thomas of Washington, DC, 2nd Lt. Edward Thomas III USMC of Carlsbad, CA, Elizabeth Miller of Birmingham, and Mae Stockham DeAnni of Boulder, CO.
The Stockham Family would like to thank Dee Brazzle, Celestine Cokely, and Delores Helton for their loving care.
The memorial service will be at Independent Presbyterian Church at 3:00 on Friday, May 9.
