Myrna B. Kilborn passed away at her home in Perry Farm Village, Harbor Springs, on July 28, 2014.
Myrna was born February 5, 1919 to James and Nellie (Jensen) Beck in Chicago, Illinois. Myrna graduated from Parker High School and embarked on a career in office work.
Myrna married James H. Kilborn of Petoskey, Michigan in 1946 and moved to Harbor Springs that same year when Mr. Kilborn was engaged by the Harbor Point Association. Mrs. Kilborn worked as bookkeeper for the Association from 1947 to 1991. She was a steady and devoted wife, mother and friend. Mrs. Kilborn's great joy was singing in the choir, first at Golgotha Lutheran Church in Chicago and then at the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs.
Mrs. Kilborn leaves three children, George (Janice) Kilborn, John (Debbi) Kilborn, Nancy (Charlie) Duray as well as grandchildren Lorna Kilborn, Will Duray and Suzi Duray. Her brother Larry (Nancy) Beck, sister Betty Hansen, brother-in-law Ed Johnson and sister-in-law Pat (Kilborn) Mackie survive as well as many treasured nieces and nephews including Terri Kilborn of Harbor Springs. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, sisters Agnes and her husband Laurice DeLaurent, Margaret Johnson, brother James Beck, Jr. and his wife Barbara as well as sister-in-laws Helen and Harriet Kilborn, brother-in-law Glenn Kilborn and his wife Jeanne and brother-in-law John Mackie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Perry Farm Village for cherishing and caring for our mother as if she was their own. Myrna was very happy there and counted many friends among the staff and residents.
It was Myrna's wish that memorials be directed to either the Perry Farm Village, the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs Music mission or the Harbor Springs Library. Family services will take place at a later date.
