Gerald McCall Chamberlin, 53, of Harbor Springs, died March 11, 2017 at Hiland Cottage.
Gerry was born November 26, 1963, the son of Donald and Joanne (Hoover) Chamberlin. He grew up in Grosse Pointe and attended high school for two years at University of Liggett and two years at Grosse Pointe South. After High School, Gerry studied at Northern Michigan University.
On June 11, 1994, he married Laura Hackman at Holy Childhood Church in Harbor Springs.
Professionally, Gerry was a builder and was self employed for most of his life.
He loved anything active and outdoors; from water skiing, downhill skiing, sailing to camping. He enjoyed all sports - but especially soccer; which he coached for over 8 years. Gerry was an instrumental part of getting the Harbor Springs Soccer Team to what it is today. He always looked forward to going to Camp Leelanau, an event he did for 15 years of his life, five of which he spent as a camp councilor. He was extremely involved in the Harbor Springs Hammerhead Swim Club. Throughout most of his adult life, he was a member of the Nubs Nob Ski League; also a member of B.N.I and of the 1st Church of Christ Scientists in Petoskey.
Gerry always lived his life 110%. He did not believe in giving up and would never accept defeat.
Gerry is survived by Laura Hackman of Harbor Springs; daughters, Lilly Chamberlin and Lucy Chamberlin; parents, Donald and Joanne Chamberlin; siblings, Don Jr. (Susie) Chamberlin, David Chamberlin, and Lisa (Keith) Johnson; sister-in-law, Sarah Define; in-laws, Arthur (Debbie) Hackman, Glen (Tracey) Hackman, Alen (Amy) Hackman, and Robert Hackman; mother-in-law, Alice Hackman; nieces and nephews, Don III (Reshma), Sally (Timothée), Andrew, Katie, Greta, William, Katie, Kelsey, Alix, Maggie (Jake), Teddy, and Abigail; great niece, Lyla Kloss; and great nephew, Henry Kloss. Gerry is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Arthur Hackman.
A visitation will take place at Stone Funeral Home, Wednesday, March 15 from 4-6 p.m. and a funeral service at Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Pier restaurant from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
